Caravan parking: Arrive at your destination comfortable and safe with AL-KO

Standing your caravan safely

Having reached your destination after a trip with your motorhome, the next step is finding a suitable parking place. Whether it’s on a parking space for motorhomes or on a camping space, you need components such as supports to stand the caravan safely. They ensure that the caravan is optimally supported when parking. You should also take precautions against potential damage during the journey. Jacks and spare wheels belong to the basic equipment of a motorhome. At AL-KO you’ll find all you need to equip your motorhome to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

Electric caravan supports for more comfort

In order to facilitate parking of caravans, they come equipped with supports. These ensure safe standing and prevent the motorhome sliding away or sinking on soft ground. Whether on paved parking places or uneven and unstable ground on campsites - the AL-KO support systems ensure absolute stability when parking your caravan. The UP4 electric support system from AL-KO offers more comfort: You raise your supports by remote control and adjust them precisely. This means no bending down or cranking for you. The system is suitable for caravans with an AL-KO chassis of up to 2,500 kg. Metal parts are hot-dip galvanised so corrosion resistant The electric drive is protected by a plastic cover. The big foot™ steady legs from AL-KO are already mounted. The electric caravan supports also have a built-in anti-theft lock: To prevent unwanted access, the supports can be operated manually via a special key. For example, the support system can be combined with the AL-KO Ranger manoeuvring aid.

The levelC caravan levelling system

from E&P Hydraulics

The E&P levelC caravan levelling system levels your caravan within max. 120 seconds at the push of a button. Highlight of the system – 6 supports are installed on the chassis to ensure unparalleled stability of your caravan.

Mechanical AL-KO supports — can also be retrofitted on older chassis.

The mechanical corner steadies are a variant you can crank yourself. The supports are extended and aligned using a crank. Thanks to the powerful pressed sections and corrugated side bracing, the supports are stable and resilient. The crank supports are hot-dip galvanised so especially robust and corrosion resistant. AL-KO corner steadies are available in two versions. The short “hollow” form has a load capacity of up to 1,000 kg, the longer “Premium” a load capacity of up to 1,250 kg. They can be retrofitted to all AL-KO chassis from 1989 construction year. Assembly is quick and simple. This may also be possible under certain circumstances with older models or other manufacturers — the specialist workshop can advise you on this. The corner steadies can be added to as required, for example with different cranks or the “Comfort Kit” for easier operation. With the Safety Compact safety lock you prevent unauthorised persons from cranking up the supports — so the crank support is an immobiliser as well.

AL-KO Big Foot as an add-on

The big foot™steady legs can be retrofitted with the crank support, and replace emergency solutions such as boards that are pushed under the supports. They increase the standing area to 200 x 180 millimetre and can take a weight of up to 1,250 kg. This ensures that the caravan also stands well and does not sink too much on soft ground such as sand or snow. The convenient size is not an obstacle when driving: When the caravan supports are folded in, the steady leg nestles the lower base.

Only use AL-KO supports as intended

Whether mechanical or electric: caravan supports are there to support a parked caravan after it has been levelled. They do not replace a jack and should not be used as such to lift the caravan or relieve the tyres. If they are misused, the chassis of your caravan could be damaged.

Save space by attaching the spare wheel under the caravan with a spare wheel carrier

One careless manoeuvre when driving and it happens: the tyre of the caravan is defective and must be changed. So a spare wheel should be on board for every excursion with the caravan. So as not to lose any space, place the spare wheel in a holder under the trailer, e.g. in the front locker. The AL-KO spare wheel carrier weighs little and can be mounted directly under the axle of the AL-KO chassis. In addition, the holder lowers the centre of gravity of the chassis and thus improves the driving response. If you need your spare part make sure to remove the wheel from the side facing away from the road. This minimises the risk of accidents significantly.

Make wheel changes and repairs comfortably with a jack

Changing a wheel or other repair work to the chassis calls for a jack to be used. The jacks in our range are specially designed for lifting AL-KO chassis. They have a fitted vehicle jack mounting so that the force on the chassis is optimally distributed. This prevents damage to the structure when using the jack. Mechanical jacks are suitable for trailers with a gross weight of up to 2,000 kg, hydraulic models can bear a weight of up to 3,000 kg. However, the jack is not suitable for supporting the caravan when parked.

Optimum protection for caravan components Weather protection for the overrun device

Adverse weather conditions take their toll on your vehicle and possibly limit the functionality of components in the long term. This can reduce their service life and cause unnecessary outlay and costs. The overrun device on the caravan is constantly exposed to weather and temperature fluctuations. You should therefore protect the overrun device if you park your caravan for a long period. AL-KO weather protection consists of dirt and water repellent materials and therefore keeps moisture away from the components. In addition, the fabric is quick and simple to fix to the overrun device.
