AL-KO VT chassis for commercial vehicles and transporters

The flexible solution for individual transport requirements

Together with us, you’ll find the perfect solution for your individual requirements. AL-KO VT chassis are available in a variety of versions: AL-KO VT chassis are offered as two- or three-axle variants, depending on the base vehicle and version. Wheelbase, overhang, frame length, and track width can be adjusted to suit the respective structure within the available configurations.

The dimensions of our chassis are flexible: Depending on the area of application, you can select wheelbase, overhang and frame length to suit the application purpose. Thanks to the higher permissible gross weight, AL-KO VT chassis enable higher payloads and thus a tailor-made solution for virtually all transport tasks.

AL-KO VT low-frame chassis for commercial vehicles

The lowered frame on AL-KO VT low-frame chassis provides numerous benefits for commercial vehicles: Using an AL-KO VT low-frame chassis positions the vehicle lower compared to the original ladder frame, which not only allows for a lower step-in height and additional storage space but also further lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity, thereby enhancing driving safety. In addition, the reduced vehicle height improves aerodynamics.

With an AL-KO VT chassis in combination with base vehicles such as the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper, a wide range of body types can be realised: Box bodies with a high loading volume, as well as flatbed vehicles or car transporters, all benefit from AL-KO VT chassis as an excellent foundation.

The tandem torsion-beam rear axle of our 13-inch chassis enables a flat, low loading area – meaning the body itself does not require wheel arches. Disc brakes and steel suspension contribute to stable handling and balanced suspension comfort. The tyre configuration is matched to the respective vehicle and chassis setup. ESP/ESC is standard on AL-KO chassis with 13-inch wheels and is optionally available on 2- and 3-axle AL-KO VT chassis.

The wide-track suspension with independent wheel suspension developed by AL-KO VT delivers significantly enhanced driving behaviour and increased roll stability compared to standard suspensions. Instead of rigid axles with leaf springs and additional shock absorbers, the AL-KO VT wide-track suspension utilises an AL-KO VT chassis with torsion bar suspension and high-performance shock absorbers on the rear axle.

Our lightweight, hot-dip galvanised chassis from AL-KO VT offer an exceptionally long service life. High-strength steel and C-profile construction provide AL-KO VT chassis with maximum stability and frame rigidity. Maintenance and repairs are straightforward thanks to a global network of around 1,000 service stations and the service-friendly design of our chassis.

AMC VARIO SPACE – the low-frame chassis for the latest generation of commercial vehicles

The AMC VARIO SPACE low-frame chassis improves driving safety and stability thanks to the low centre of gravity of the chassis, resulting in optimised road holding and reduced susceptibility to crosswinds. This makes the driving experience safer and more stable. Another advantage is the comfortable entry, as the lower step-in height allows easy entry and exit.

The low frame height of the AMC VARIO SPACE chassis also provides a low loading height, enabling efficient and convenient loading and unloading of the vehicle. The improved aerodynamics of the AMC VARIO SPACE result from the reduced vehicle height, which can potentially lower CO2 emissions.

Lightweight chassis for base vehicles from Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall, Mercedes-Benz

The base vehicles are equipped with AL-KO VT lightweight chassis. These offer a permissible gross weight of up to 4,500 kg for 2-axle vehicles or 5,000 kg for 3-axle vehicles – making payloads of up to 3,000 kg possible. Vehicles based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are also available with a permissible gross weight of up to 5,500 kg, providing additional payload reserves. And that’s not all: For virtually any body type or transport requirement, tailor-made solutions can be created through variable wheelbases, overhangs, and the available axle and frame track widths.

At the same time, axle load distribution and driving stability are maintained. The innovative low-frame chassis ensures a lower centre of gravity, which improves road holding, cornering, and crosswind stability. Compared with original standard chassis, AL-KO VT achieves increased roll stability by means of a wider track width. On the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the rear axle track can be widened by up to 210 mm depending on the version, further enhancing roll stability. This improves driving dynamics and safety, and also increases driving comfort.
