AL-KO VT chassis are available in various versions: Depending on the base vehicle and design, AL-KO VT chassis are available as two- or three-axle models. Wheelbase, overhang, frame length and track width can be adapted to suit the particular body within the available configurations.

Thanks to the higher permissible gross weight, AL-KO VT chassis offer greater payloads, making them the ideal solution for nearly any transport task.
AL-KO VT low-frame chassis for commercial vehicles
The lowered frame of the AL-KO VT low-frame chassis offers numerous advantages for commercial vehicles: Compared with the original ladder frame, a vehicle fitted with an AL-KO VT low-frame chassis sits lower, which not only allows for a lower entrance and more storage space, but also shifts the vehicle’s centre of gravity downwards, thereby increasing driving safety. A reduced overall height also helps to improve aerodynamics.
With an AL-KO VT chassis combined with base vehicles such as the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper, a wide variety of body designs are possible: For box body variants with high loading volume, as well as for dropside vehicles or car transporters, AL-KO VT chassis provide an excellent base.
The tandem trailing arm rear axle in our 13-inch chassis allows for a flat, low load platform – so the body itself does not require wheel arches. Disc brakes and steel suspension ensure stable handling and a balanced level of ride comfort. Tyres are matched to the specific vehicle and chassis configuration. ESP/ESC is standard on AL-KO chassis with 13-inch wheels, and is optionally available on 2- and 3-axle AL-KO VT chassis.
The wide-track suspension with independent wheel suspension developed by AL-KO VT offers noticeably improved handling and enhanced roll stability compared with standard chassis. Instead of rigid axles with leaf springs and additional shock absorbers, the AL-KO VT wide-track suspension uses an AL-KO VT chassis with torsion bar suspension and high-performance shock absorbers on the rear axle.
Our lightweight, hot-dip galvanised chassis from AL-KO VT deliver exceptionally long service life. By using high-strength steel and C-profile construction, AL-KO VT chassis achieve maximum stability and frame rigidity. Maintenance and repair of AL-KO VT chassis are extremely straightforward, thanks to a global >service network comprising around 1,000 service stations and the service-friendly design of our chassis.
Lightweight chassis for base vehicles from Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall, Mercedes-Benz
The base vehicles are fitted with AL-KO VT lightweight chassis. These feature a permissible gross weight of up to 4,500 kg for 2-axle models, or 5,000 kg for 3-axle models – offering payloads of up to 3,000 kg. For vehicles based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, versions with a permissible gross weight of up to 5,500 kg are also available, providing additional payload reserves. But that’s not all: Thanks to variable wheelbases, overhangs and the available axle and track width options, bespoke solutions can be created for virtually all types of bodywork and transport requirements.
At the same time, axle load distribution remains optimal and driving stability is maintained. The innovative low-frame chassis ensures a lower centre of gravity, which improves roadholding, cornering and crosswind stability. Increased roll stability is achieved by AL-KO VT, compared with the original production chassis, by using a wider track width. On the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the rear axle track is widened by up to 210 mm, depending on version – and this further increases roll stability. This delivers improved driving dynamics and safety, as well as enhanced ride comfort.
