AL-KO VT chassis for commercial vehicles and transporters

Flexible solutions for individual transport requirements

AL-KO VT offers a range of chassis configurations to suit your specific requirements. Depending on the base vehicle and design, the chassis are available as two- or three-axle models. Wheelbase, overhang, frame length and track width can be adapted to suit the particular body within the available configurations.

Depending on the application, you can select the wheelbase, overhang and frame length to suit your requirements. The higher permissible gross weight allows AL-KO VT chassis to carry higher payloads, making them a tailor-made solution for virtually all transport tasks.

AL-KO VT low-frame chassis for commercial vehicles

The lowered frame of the AL-KO VT low-frame chassis offers numerous benefits for commercial vehicles: Compared with standard ladder frames, a vehicle fitted with an AL-KO VT low-frame chassis sits lower. This provides a lower entry height and additional storage space, while also lowering the vehicle’s centre of gravity and increasing driving safety. The reduced overall vehicle height also improves aerodynamics.

With an AL-KO VT chassis combined with base vehicles such as the Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper, a wide range of body types can be realised: AL-KO VT chassis provide an excellent base for box bodies with a high loading volume, as well as platform vehicles or car transporters.

The tandem trailing arm rear axle of our 13-inch chassis enables a flat, low loading area – the body itself does not require wheel arches. Disc brakes and steel suspension help provide stable handling and balanced suspension comfort. The tyre configuration is matched to the respective vehicle and chassis configuration. ESP/ESC is standard on AL-KO chassis with 13-inch wheels and is optionally available on 2- and 3-axle AL-KO VT chassis.

The wide track chassis with independent wheel suspension developed by AL-KO VT offers noticeably improved handling and enhanced roll stability compared with standard chassis. Instead of rigid axles with leaf springs and additional shock absorbers, the AL-KO VT wide track chassis features torsion bar suspension and high-performance shock absorbers on the rear axle.

Our lightweight, hot-dip galvanised chassis boast an exceptionally long service life. High-strength steel and C-profile construction provide maximum stability and frame rigidity. Maintenance and repairs are straightforward thanks to a global network of around 1,000 service centres and the service-friendly design of our chassis.

AMC VARIO SPACE – the next-generation low-frame chassis for commercial vehicles

The AMC VARIO SPACE low-frame chassis improves driving safety and stability thanks to its low centre of gravity, resulting in optimised road holding and reduced susceptibility to crosswinds. This provides a safer, more stable driving experience. Another benefit is the lower entry height, which makes getting in and out easier.

The low frame height of the AMC VARIO SPACE chassis also provides a low loading height, enabling efficient and convenient loading and unloading of the vehicle. The improved aerodynamics of the AMC VARIO SPACE result from the reduced overall vehicle height, which may help reduce CO2 emissions.

Lightweight chassis for base vehicles from Fiat, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel/Vauxhall and Mercedes-Benz

The base vehicles are fitted with AL-KO VT lightweight chassis. They offer a permissible gross weight of up to 4,500 kg for 2-axle vehicles or 5,000 kg for 3-axle vehicles – making payloads of up to 3,000 kg possible. Vehicles based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter are also available with a permissible gross weight of up to 5,500 kg, providing additional payload reserves. And that’s not all: Variable wheelbases, overhangs and the available axle and frame widths allow tailor-made solutions for virtually any body type or transport requirement.

At the same time, axle load distribution remains optimal and driving stability is maintained. The innovative low-frame chassis lowers the vehicle’s centre of gravity, improving road holding, cornering and crosswind stability. Compared with standard chassis, a wider track width increases roll stability. On the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the rear axle track can be widened by up to 210 mm depending on the version, further enhancing roll stability. The wider rear axle track improves driving dynamics and safety while also enhancing ride comfort.
