A treat for all the senses – stylish dining in your mobile home

If you think life on a camping holiday cannot offer pleasure for both the palate and the eyes, you couldn’t be more wrong. Even simple advice and accessories can help you enjoy culinary variety in the finest ambience with your caravan & co.

Tip 1: Pack your food essentials

To prepare delicious meals, you first need to have the basics that delight your taste buds on board. This doesn't mean stocking up on unusual herbs — keep essentials like salt, pepper, sugar, honey, oil and vinegar in your caravan or motorhome. These kitchen staples pave the way for culinary discoveries.

Tip 2: Versatile foods such as potatoes

Forget the idea that having little money on holiday means you have to settle for mediocre food. With staples such as potatoes, pasta and rice you can easily create a really tasty meal. Instant varieties, such as couscous or rice noodles, also make for a great evening dish.

    Tip 3: Meal planning

To avoid standing hungry in front of your food basics with no idea what to make, plan your holiday week(s), for example in the motorhome, with dishes that you can prepare in a small space with just a few kitchen utensils.

Red lentil dishes, ham pasta or colourful taboulé can easily be prepared in a single pot: for example, after adding couscous to boiling water and letting it soak for ten minutes, simply chop the vegetables of your choice directly into the same pot. Season with salt and pepper, or exotic spices (see Tip 4) to taste.

The OMNIA oven is perfect for preparing these dishes. You can prepare almost anything you would cook in a built-in oven. This baking dish consists of a black steel ring, an aluminium mould and a lid. The lower ring sits directly on the gas flame. And always keep two or three 'leftovers dinner' ideas on hand as well.

If you had too much bread at breakfast, create bruschetta (toasted bread with tomatoes and olive oil) or a bread salad (torn bread with tomatoes and oil & vinegar) the next evening.

    Tip 4: Embrace regional ingredients

With your essentials on board, you’re ready for new culinary surprises. Let the local markets at your holiday destination inspire you and combine exotic herbs or unfamiliar vegetables with your planned dishes. The couscous mentioned above tastes wonderful with a type of local mint and a squeeze of lemon.
