Tiny House by Wöhltjen: The Individualist

The dream of owning your own home – changing lifestyles require new approaches to living. Mobile tiny houses are very much in vogue: independence and freedom have become even more important for many people during the pandemic.

Living on wheels requires a solid foundation. The chassis from the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group are the first choice for many tiny house manufacturers. They feature a modular frame concept that allows for different body lengths and custom body configurations. Hot-dip galvanised chassis components offer reliable protection against corrosion. Because of the exceptional dimensional accuracy of the chassis, the build can be prefabricated exactly to size. Additional quality features, highly valued by tiny house manufacturers, include a movable axle module, a patented chassis connection, heavy-duty supports, integrated lighting, a pre-tensioned steel frame and the EU certificate of conformity for assembled series chassis. Decades of expertise in manufacturing high-quality running gear components for trailers and intelligent production concepts lay the foundation for outstanding quality, durability and perfectly thought-out product solutions for every type of tiny house – whether custom, luxury or standard – on wheels.

    Stephan Wöhltjen and his team

Stephan Wöhltjen and his team from Achim-Uphusen, Lower Saxony, recognised the potential of tiny houses at an early stage and have been building them since 2015. Originally a joinery, the company has established a second business focus with tiny houses. In fact, this development was something of a lucky coincidence. As Wöhltjen explains, the idea for their first tiny house came about more or less by chance. In order to showcase their products in a realistic environment with minimal effort, the joinery built their trade fair stand in the form of a small house – which ultimately triggered the shift towards tiny houses. Today, tiny houses are firmly integrated into Wöhltjen's day-to-day operations and business model.

    Company philosophy

Tiny House by Wöhltjen places particular importance on individuality. The team of joiners is passionate about fulfilling every customer's dream, however unique it may be, and building the perfect tiny house for them. Many customers want to realise their own ideas with a tiny home, bringing a wide variety of visions. With plenty of creativity, commitment and talent, Wöhltjen creates unique, bespoke tiny houses. For mobile tiny homes, the substructure – the chassis – plays a crucial role. Here, Wöhltjen relies on proven quality, and therefore on AL-KO Vehicle Technology, which has maintained a partnership with the joinery for several years.

    The partnership with AL-KO VT

Thanks to a modular frame concept that allows for different body lengths, and a standard selection from a range of almost 20 frame assemblies, the chassis from AL-KO Vehicle Technology are particularly well suited to individual solutions. The wide product range, along with their high quality and durability, helps the joinery fulfil its customers’ wishes for a bespoke tiny house. What impresses Wöhltjen most is the exceptional quality of the chassis. The frames offer high resistance to bending and excellent rigidity. Heavy-duty supports attached directly to the frame allow for easy on-site alignment. Depending on the axle load, both the axles and drawbar can be adjusted. The dimensional precision of the frame means that the tiny house can be built directly on top of it.

“The dimensional accuracy of the chassis was a decisive factor in our decision to choose the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group. This allows us to work efficiently and with precise fit. AL-KO is a reliable partner we greatly value. Its products meet the high quality standards that we want to offer our customers with every single tiny house,” says Stephan Wöhltjen, master joiner and one of the managing directors at Tiny House by Wöhltjen.

“We have enjoyed a successful partnership with Tiny House by Wöhltjen for many years. We are delighted that the chassis from the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group contribute to the premium quality of tiny houses. The products are thoughtfully engineered and thoroughly tested to ensure that mobile tiny houses are functional, safe and stable,” says Pierre Auf dem Brinke, Head of Northern Regional Sales at the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group.
