AL-KO VT motorhome levelling support systems

Hydraulic and mechanical support systems for motorhomes

Stable parking – even on challenging pitches

A stable position is the basis for a comfortable stay in your motorhome. Not every pitch is level or paved. Soft ground, gravel or slight slopes can reduce comfort on board.

Levelling support systems from AL-KO VT reliably stabilise your vehicle and reduce unwanted movement. Depending on vehicle type, weight and comfort requirements, you can choose from hydraulic and mechanical solutions. They provide a stable, secure position, whether you are stopping briefly or staying for longer.

Levelling support systems for motorhomes at a glance

Which support system is right for my motorhome?

The right system depends on the vehicle type, permissible gross weight and desired level of operating convenience. Hydraulic levelling systems automatically level the motorhome. Mechanical steady legs are operated with a hand crank and reliably stabilise the vehicle.

    Hydraulic levelling systems for motorhomes

Fully automatic levelling at the touch of a button

Hydraulic levelling systems level the motorhome quickly, precisely and without physical effort. After parking the vehicle, the steady legs are conveniently extended using the controls. Sensors detect the vehicle’s position, while the control system compensates for uneven ground and slopes and distributes the load as evenly as possible across the individual steady legs.

The result is a stable, level parking position with significantly less rocking and swaying. This noticeably improves comfort when sleeping, cooking or moving around inside the vehicle. Doors, drawers and household appliances can also be used more reliably when the vehicle is level.

HY4: four-point levelling with decentralised pump units

HY4 automatically levels approved motorhomes up to 6 t within about a minute. Each of the four steady legs has its own hydraulic pump unit mounted on the chassis. This eliminates the need for long hydraulic lines and hydraulic components inside the vehicle interior.

The system is available for vehicles with AL-KO VT chassis as well as selected models based on Ducato, Jumper, Boxer, and Sprinter chassis. With the optional 2LINK Box, HY4 can be operated using an app. The vehicle’s total weight and individual axle loads can also be measured. If you change vehicles, the HY4 can generally be transferred, provided the new vehicle is compatible.

    Suitable for:

    • fully automatic levelling up to 6 t
    • space-saving installation
    • transfer to a new vehicle at a later date

HY2: two-point levelling for an entry-level hydraulic solution

HY2 is suitable for motorhomes up to 6 t when stable parking is more important than complete four-point levelling. Two hydraulic steady legs are automatically extended at the front or rear axle. The position can then be manually adjusted and saved in a memory slot.

At approximately 34 kg, HY2 has comparatively little impact on the remaining payload. If you later need more functionality, the system can be upgraded to HY4.

    Suitable for:

    • cost-effective entry-level solution
    • little impact on remaining payload
    • later upgrade to four steady legs

LevelM Pro: lightweight, quiet and exceptionally gentle

LevelM Pro fully automatically levels light to medium-sized motorhomes up to 6 t. The system has a starting weight of 56 kg and uses two independent brushless motors for quiet, precise levelling with minimal impact on the remaining payload.

Two individual positions, for example, for sleeping or cooking, can be saved. A weighing function for axle load and total weight is available. LevelM Pro requires a compatible base vehicle. Compatibility must be confirmed before ordering.

    Suitable for:

    • high comfort
    • low noise levels
    • low system weight
    • optional weighing function

LevelM Pro 4x4: for off-road vehicles

LevelM Pro 4x4 is available exclusively for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 4x4 van chassis up to 4.25 t. Extra-long hydraulic cylinders provide a minimum ground clearance of 280 mm, helping the vehicle retain its off-road capability even away from paved pitches.

This 56 kg system levels the vehicle fully automatically and can save up to three individual positions. An optional weighing function is available.

    Suitable for:

    • Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 4x4 van chassis
    • off-road travel
    • high ground clearance

LevelM: for heavy and specialised motorhomes

LevelM is designed for a wide range of vehicle types and higher weight classes, up to 22 t. Four hydraulic steady legs automatically level the motorhome. An individual position can also be stored for sleeping comfort or tank emptying.

The system can be adapted to different installation requirements. It is also suitable for vehicles with two- or four-line full air suspension. The air bellows can be automatically lowered before levelling.

    Suitable for:

    • heavy motorhomes
    • special vehicle configurations
    • vehicles with full air suspension

    Mechanical steady legs for motorhomes

    Simple, robust and reliable

Mechanical steady legs are a proven solution for stabilising a motorhome on a pitch. They are manually extended using a hand crank and are particularly suitable for travellers who value straightforward technology, easy operation and low maintenance. Since neither hydraulics nor electronics are required, the steady legs work independently of the on-board power supply.

On firm or slightly uneven surfaces such as asphalt, gravel or grass, mechanical steady legs significantly reduce rocking and swaying. As a result, the motorhome remains steadier when people move, sleep or cook inside. The steady legs are primarily designed for stabilisation. Greater height differences or slopes may need to be compensated for with wheel chocks.

The AL-KO VT ClickFix steady legs are made from lightweight yet robust aluminium. They are easy to operate and lock securely in place for travel. An integrated free-pivoting mechanism provides extra protection: if you accidentally drive off with the steady legs extended, they can swing forwards or backwards out of the way, reducing the risk of damage to the vehicle and the support system.

    Have compatibility checked before installation

    Vehicle specifications determine compatibility

The weight class alone is not enough to determine compatibility. The chassis, year of manufacture, wheelbase, drive type, existing attachments and available installation space must also be taken into account.

An AL-KO VT customer centre or authorised partner will check the installation requirements and recommend an approved configuration. They can also install the system professionally.

Frequently asked questions about support systems for motorhomes

Hydraulic levelling support systems automatically or semi-automatically level the motorhome and offer a high degree of operating comfort. Mechanical steady legs are operated manually using a hand crank and are primarily used for stabilisation on solid ground. Which solution is more suitable depends on the vehicle type, your comfort requirements and the intended use.

Hydraulic levelling support systems compensate for uneven surfaces and slopes. Mechanical supports stabilise the vehicle but are not primarily designed for fully automatic levelling.

Hydraulic levelling support systems are designed to affect ground clearance as little as possible during driving. Special systems such as the off-road variant LevelM Pro 4x4 are specifically designed for high ground clearance. Mechanical steady legs can be fully folded away for travel, providing sufficient ground clearance.

HY2 is suitable if you want to hydraulically support the front or rear axle and save weight. For fully automatic levelling, you need a system with four supports, such as HY4, LevelM Pro or LevelM.

Many hydraulic and mechanical support systems can be retrofitted. Key factors to consider are vehicle compatibility, chassis, permissible gross weight and available mounting points. Please check these requirements before ordering.

Modern hydraulic levelling support systems are generally low-maintenance and designed for long-term use. Mechanical steady legs feature simple technology and also require only minimal maintenance.

LevelM is designed for higher weight classes and a wide range of vehicle types. The current product configuration covers a permissible gross weight of up to 22 t. An specialist workshop must assess vehicle compatibility and the installation situation.

LevelM Pro 4x4 is designed for the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter VS30 4x4 van chassis up to 4.25 t. For other Sprinter versions, HY4, LevelM Pro or LevelM may be suitable depending on the chassis. The exact variant depends on the vehicle configuration and available installation space.

This depends on the system used. HY4 weighs around 68 kg, LevelM Pro and LevelM Pro 4x4 from 56 kg, LevelM from 60 kg, and HY2 around 34 kg. In addition, vehicle-specific mounting parts and accessories may be required.
