Used lead-acid batteries (EWC 160601*) are subject to EU regulations (Battery Directive) and its transposition into national legislation regarding the composition and end-of-life management of batteries.

They are marked with the recycling/return symbol and a crossed-out waste container. Batteries with different chemical compositions must be separated from lead-acid batteries to avoid risks during collection, transport, and recycling.

Under no circumstances should the electrolyte (diluted sulfuric acid) be emptied by an inexperienced user. This process must be carried out by processing companies
